The influence of my Grandfather in my life

ஒருவன் வாழ , குலம் வாழும்
ஊருணி நீர் நிறைந்தற்றே உலகவாம் பேரறிவாளன் திரு

the greatest influence in my life is that of my grandfather after whom I am named .
He was my maternal grandfather
He worked in Mumbai,Colombo,Nagapattinam and Cochin before coming to Calicut .
As a young boy i had the opportunity to closely interact with him and learn the meaning of life from the viewpoint of a man who has seen it all .
He was matriculate from St Xavier s Palayamkottai (1928)
He brought up his family from a very difficult situation on his Father's death .Got all his brothers employed .
In spite of having gone through tough situations (like losing his job in the prime of his life, seeing two daughters get widowed, losing his youngest teenager son) he had a positive attitude in life .
He taught me that the true joy in life is in giving.
His presence with us was enriching and he monetarily supported us to get a good education .
When I interact with many others ,nowadays,I realize that they behave so pettily because they did not have a grandfather like I had.
He said"enjoy whatever comes in your way,but don't get addicted to it"
Even now I feel he is with me and guiding me .
I have not inherited any property from my ancestors, but got from them a good attitude and a keen sense about life's purpose.
I am grateful to providence for that.
The quote above summarizes his life view
